Escape to Vail

While we’re in the throes of January with plenty of winter ahead of us, it’s hard not to fantasize about a winter escape. A change of scenery might be exactly what you need! There are so many options for getaways at this time of year - but our favorite right now is Vail, Colorado.

Vail is located in the heart of the Rockies with thousands of skiable acres, easy access to the mountain & trails, beautiful, pristine terrain, and chic dining and shops - the perfect ski destination. Even if you choose to visit during off-season, Vail offers summer activities ranging from hiking to golfing or you can simply pamper yourself at one of Vail’s many spa locations.

Where to stay?

At Four Seasons Vail, your day will begin and end with the best service to make you feel right at home and well taken care of. Their ski concierge will have your pre-fitted boots warmed and your ski gear ready to go so you can hit the slopes in no time.

Where to eat?

With a busy day of skiing or snowboarding, you’ll want to unwind at one of Vail’s top restaurants. We suggest Sweet Basil for its progressive, innovative, and delicious menu. Order the crispy brussel sprouts to start, salmon tataki as your first course, squash carbonara as your second, brush creek pork loin as your third. Sweeten the end of your meal with the sticky toffee pudding - you will thank us! Sweet Basil also offers an extensive wine list and crafted cocktails so there is something for everyone.

Apres ski?

Root and Flower is a fantastic new wine bar located in Vail Village. Their wine list is specially curated by Vail's only advanced sommelier (and part owner with Samantha Biszantz), Jeremy Campbell, offering unique and plentiful options for diverse palettes. The menu is thoughtfully organized by taste and balance and delectable small plates are available to order for après ski nourishment. We recommend you arrive early to beat the big après crowd and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

What to do?

Aside from winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding, Vail offers many other options to fill your time. If you need a break from being on the mountain, head to Cinebistro for in-theatre dining and cocktails. If you're sore from the long days atop Vail, indulge in a spa day at Sonnenalp Spa where you are guaranteed to feel totally rejuvenated. Carnivail - Vail’s annual Mardi Gras celebration is being held this year from February 6th-9th, 2016 and sure to be provide unforgettable entertainment. Another event you may want to catch - The 34th Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships being held February 29th-March 5th, 2016; watch Olympic hopefuls and professional snowboarders compete to be the best in the sport.  We recommend attending if you plan to be in Vail this February/March!
